1st post! 8th training ride

I just got back from my 8th training ride on my new bike in preparation for ALC in June. I just decided to open up this blog today to start writing about my experience leading up to the ride. A few of my donors have asked if I was keeping a blog and writing so I thought "why not?!" It'll be a great way for you to keep up on my progress and see what I'm up to along the way.

Today I joined a CAT2 ride originating from Sports Basement Presidio. We biked across the Golden Gate Bridge and through Sausalito and into Tiburon. My friends Cat, Alex, and Shannon also joined on this ride. It was awesome to have some familiar faces around me.

Wow, what a gorgeous day. I'm really surrendering right now to how lovely it is to get on the road with the sun beating on my face and seeing the Bay Area.

My new bike, a Specialized Roubaix, has been such an amazing tool to connect with. I'm starting to feel more confident in clipless pedals and navigating through tourist traps like Sausalito and the Marina. Not to mention the Golden Gate Bridge. I will often cuss under my breath at the tourists on Blazin' Saddles bikes trying to take selfies while riding into my bike lane. Oy! Deep breaths in.

Ok, off to soak in the tub now! Here's a dopey pic of me just wrapping up the ride and ending at Sports Basement. This was at 30 miles completed. I biked home along the Embarcadero and down South Beach to the Mission today, adding 8 more miles onto my journey. All total, I tackled 38 miles today! This is the farthest I've gone on a bike in one day. :)
